As requested I have taken some pictures of my sand (and gold?) sucker
Complete assembly. The 90 mm storm water pipe is about 560mm long.
90mm threaded coupling showing side holes
Reducers at front end 90-50 and 50-40
Handle and end cap note spacer near handle and floating spacer on shaft
Thong, washer and nut
other side of plunger showing large washer
Things that are required to be done to the existing unit: larger washer on the plunger (should be 75mm to 80mm both sides)
The holes at the threaded coupling are needed to stop you from getting sprayed if water leaks past the washer. The inlet can be reduced even further if you wish, as it is now it will suck heaps as the water speed in the 40mm end tube is about 5 times the speed that you pull back at, if the 40mm was reduced even more the velocity of the sucked gravel would increase even more. If you noticed the blue splash of pvc adhesive this is where the sucker pump cracked and was repaired. Ken.
